Manny Pacquiao Wants Gays Dead, Then Claims He Was Misquoted

Manny, Manny, Manny. You’re on top of the boxing world (with Mayweather) and a political figure in the Phillipines. Why would he even put himself in such a critical situation? Obama was ballsy enough to answer the question head on; much respect to him for that. He is the President of the United States; it’s his job to lose, and by him speaking up he may have won the election. Same sex marriage has been a dicey issue for years and most people hit the “juke” button when asked about it. Manny, I don’t mind your stance against same sex marriage. You have the right to your own opinion; plain and simple.

But to have allegedly quoted Leviticus 20:13 :

If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

Jesus Christ Virgin Mary Holy Shit on Mother Teresa!

That’s a loaded quote to share. Wanting people of a different sexual preference to be put six feet under? I haven’t read the Book Of Leviticus but it sounds extremely radical in its logic. Hey, it could be an awesome read; stories about murder, pillaging, and damning anyone who doesn’t follow God’s word. How could this little treasure past my eyes?

Granville Ampong, the journalist at Examiner.com has claimed in recent conversation about this very controversial interview claiming that the journalists for media outlets USA Today and LA Weekly are the blame. Dennis Romero (LA Weekly) and Tom Wier (USA Today) are the ones that are blowing this quote out of proportion. If Pacquiao was misquoted then that is all your fault Mr. Ampong, mind you, we all read the article and you credited Manny with saying that exact quote.

Ampong:

In his article, Weir said “Pacquiao also invoked Old Testament, and recited Leviticus 20:13, saying: “If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads,” referencing my fourth paragraph which states: “Pacquiao’s directive for Obama calls societies to fear God and not to promote sin, inclusive of same-sex marriage and cohabitation, notwithstanding what Leviticus 20:13 has been pointing all along: “If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.” That, Pacquiao never said nor recited, nor invoked and nor did he ever refer to such context.

Then there’s this…

The Examiner article includes a reference to Leviticus 20:13 — which says gays “must be put to death.” But now the journalist who conducted the interview is admitting Pacquiao NEVER specifically referenced that bible verse.

Pacquiao has now released a statement saying, “I didn’t say that, that’s a lie … I didn’t know that quote from Leviticus because I haven’t read the Book of Leviticus yet.”

He continues, “I’m not against gay people … I have a relative who is also gay. We can’t help it if they were born that way.”

And Pacquiao’s parting words:

“What I’m critical off [sic] are actions that violate the word of God. I only gave out my opinion that same sex marriage is against the law of God.”

Manny may have to relocate his training camp. Wild Card gym will be riddled with protestors (I would imagine) and the general disdain that’ll surface in the gay Los Angeles community will eventually affect his training regiment.

Just keep getting punched in the face for a living and save your poignant views for retirement. I don’t hate Manny for this; I just enjoy watching him box, but this is one of those cringe-worthy moments.
